If you’re looking to join a tight knit team at a very exciting stage in a new cafe’s journey, and happen to have an interest in running, cycling, design, food, drink, music whilst bursting with passion for coffee and customer service, this could be the role for you.

We opened the doors to Knees Up, our vibrant, welcoming multi-purpose space in the heart of East London in April 2024, where we’re blending a café, bar, shop, and event space with a focus on movement and tailored for people with an active lifestyle.

We are now looking for a highly skilled barista to join our growing team with full time hours available.

During the day, the café offers specialty coffee and a simple, high-quality menu in a casual setting. 2025 will be a big year for us all as we continue to establish the cafe’s proposition and introduce a monthly programme of events crossing food, drink, design, music, running, cycling, movement and more.

We also have a growing retail presence in the space, stocking a range of clothing and accessories from emerging brands in the worlds of sportswear and lifestyle. Whilst this isn’t directly relevant to this role, it crosses over with the café operation and contributes the unique environment we’re looking to create.

What we need from you:

• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, espresso drinks, and specialty beverages
• Provide best-in-class customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere for guests
• Maintain a clean, organised workspace and maintain the highest health & safety guidelines
• Assist with inventory management and ensure stock levels are maintained
• Upsell bakery items, beverages, and promotions to enhance the customer experience
• Become a brand ambassador, building great relationships on all levels
• Be part of a fun, positive and supportive team that works together and enjoys what we do

What We’re Looking For:

• 6 months to 1 year Barista experience
• A real passion for coffee and customer service
• Enthusiastic about running and lives an active lifestyle (preferable)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work fast when required and maintain a high level of detail at all times
• Positive ‘can do’ attitude and able to wear multiple hats on occasion
• Flexibility with work hours, including weekends and holidays
