UPS Field Service Representitive
Purpose of Role The job holder is responsible for the effective delivery of UPS/power related field service activities Key Responsibilities Technical
- Performing startup/commissioning on all equipment across the entire product line on single module and multi-module UPS and power related systems
- Performing preventative maintenance on all equipment across the entire product line on single module and multi-module UPS and power related systems
- Performing unscheduled maintenance repairs on all equipment across the entire product line on single module and multi-module UPS and power related systems
- Carrying out advanced site investigations, including power quality analysis and site surveys. These may need to be carried out, in conjunction with Sales Personnel, other Engineers and Management
- Providing excellent client service at all times
- Working closely with the Service Co-ordinators to ensure that UPS and power activities are planned and delivered effectively on time, and within budget
- Meeting agreed service levels and quality targets
- Training clients on the function and operation of their installed equipment
- Working closely with colleagues and other departments to ensure deadlines are met and a high quality of service is delivered to all clients
- Working closely with colleagues and other departments to improve service levels, resolve problems and issues, and achieve departmental and Company goals
- Completing all job-related paperwork on time and to the required standard
- Completing all relevant internal paperwork on time and to the required standard
- Tracking faulty parts, collating the necessary technical information and providing this internally and to suppliers
- Labelling and returning faulty parts
- Establishing good relationships with other areas of the business
- Supporting and training new or less experienced UPS Engineers
- Monitoring and managing sub-contract activities
- Identifying areas for improvement within own department, and Company as a whole, and taking responsibility for driving through these improvements
- Attending appropriate internal meetings, as required
- Performing any other duties as may reasonably be required
- Graduate calibre or educated to HNC/HND level in Electrical/Power Engineering (or equivalent)
- City & Guilds Test & Inspection (or equivalent) desirable but not essential
- 18th edition qualified desirable but not essential
- A strong background in UPS engineering essential with experience of dealing with very strong technical power requirements (e.g. Drives, Inverters, Rectifiers)
- Experience of commissioning and troubleshooting UPS and power related systems essential (e.g. Drives, Inverters, Rectifiers)
- Experience of working with both single phase and 3 phase UPS applications essential
- Experience of working with power levels of 100+ kilowatts essential
- Experience of working with DC batteries and voltages (Apply online only) volts) desirable but not essential
- Experience of carrying out a field based role essential
- Experience of working within the service sector preferred
- PLC experience desirable but not essential
- Experience of working with TCP/IP networking preferred
- Experience of working in the IT industry desirable but not essential
- Experience of working in data centres an advantage
- Extensive knowledge of UPS systems essential
- Extensive knowledge of power electrical theory essential
- Knowledge of other power systems preferred (e.g. Drives, Inverters, Rectifiers)
- Extensive knowledge of electrical component theory essential
- Extensive knowledge of electrical distribution systems, electrical code and various measurement equipment essential
- Knowledge of building controls systems and interfaces essential
- Must be IT literate and be able to use basic IT applications such as MS Office and be able to drive a laptop
- Basic TCP/IP networking awareness desirable
- Excellent client management skills essential
- Good communication skills essential
- Good team skills essential – must be able to work closely with colleagues and other departments to ensure overall objectives are achieved
- Ability to work independently, when required, essential
- Ability to drive essential
- Ability to multi task important – i.e. able to handle several projects simultaneously
- Ability to withstand pressure important
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions important
- Ability to read, analyse and interpret business procedures, scientific and technical information, technical procedures and government regulations desirable
- Must be able to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time
- Able to lift and move objects in excess of 30Kgs on a regular basis
- Ideally based within reasonable travelling distance of both London and the Midlands (e.g. 2 hour drive)
- Flexible on working hours – will work whatever hours are required to get the job done
- Prepared to travel extensively and stay away from home, when necessary
- Must be in possession of a valid driving licence
- Must be willing to operate within Company guidelines
