MTBM Operator - Micro tunnelling
We re looking for Micro TBM operator to join our expanding teams internationally and throughout the UK.
Key responsibilities
- Operate the TBM: Control the machine from an above-ground cabin using a control system to bore through the ground, while monitoring the machine's speed, torque, and hydraulic pressure.
- Monitor conditions: Continuously observe soil and groundwater conditions, slurry pressure, and the excavation process to prevent collapse or over-excavation.
- Perform maintenance: Conduct pre-start inspections, routine mechanical checks, and minor repairs on the TBM and its associated equipment.
- Manage operations: Handle the setup and dismantling of the TBM, manage slurry and spoil transport systems, and ensure all guidance systems are calibrated.
- Ensure accuracy: Use laser and guidance systems to maintain the correct line and grade for the tunnel, making real-time adjustments as needed.
- Record keeping: Maintain accurate operational and safety logs in accordance with project procedures.
- Team collaboration: Work with the site crew, supervisors, and technicians to address any issues that arise.
Essential skills and experience
- Experience operating a TBM or working in trenchless technology.
- Strong technical knowledge of the microtunneling process and equipment, particularly relevant brands like Herrenknecht .
- Ability to perform basic mechanical and electrical checks and repairs.
- Proficiency with TBM control systems, including laser guidance.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with the crew and management.
- A strong commitment to safety and the ability to follow procedures.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in confined or remote environments for extended periods.
