CloudOps Engineer
Hybrid, with flexibility.
We are looking for a CloudOps Engineer to join a team supporting a Public Sector client in the UK with experience in deploying, maintaining, and upgrading customer solutions on cloud environments using infrastructure-as-code languages. Specifically, we are searching for someone who brings fresh ideas, demonstrates a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions while ensuring the platform's high availability and reliability that our customers have come to expect. In this role, you will be expected to:- Utilise infrastructure-as-code to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
- Monitor and troubleshoot cloud services to identify and resolve operational issues in a timely manner as part of a 24/7 On-Call Rota.
- Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications.
- Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions.
- Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs,
- Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large, distributed software applications.
- Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding.
- Partner with QA & Test to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.
- Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts.
- Develop and maintain documentation for customer solutions and operational procedures.
You are an excellent operational engineer with experience in providing product updates, identifying production issues, and implementing integrations through CI/CD pipelines while maintaining and understanding the importance of change control. You have experience working in an agile team with a solid background in software engineering and familiarity with Python. You thrive in a fast-paced collaborative, distributed, multi-cultural and dynamic environment. Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or other highly technical, scientific discipline
- Solid experience in relevant field of operations
- Ability to program with one or more high level languages, such as Python
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as ansible or Terraform
- Experience with cloud architecture environments, preferably AWS
- Proficiency with cloud deployment frameworks such as Kubernetes
- Experience with Unix based systems and environments
- Experience & knowledge of working with secure systems handling PII/PHI data is desirable
- A team-based mentality that focuses on a group's collective goals and objectives
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to learn and investigate independently when required
- A proactive approach to identifying problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
- Successful DBS check and Security Clearance will be required
- Proficiency in English.
