About the role

The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham is seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join our Children Looked After Team.

The team works with our cared for children up to the age of 16 years and are responsible for court work and permanency planning for those children needing care outside of their extended family.

You will play a vital role in supporting children and young people in care, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met through high-quality, child-centred social work practice.


Key Responsibilities
• Manage a caseload of looked after children, ensuring timely assessments, care planning, and reviews.
• Work collaboratively with foster carers, families, schools, and other professionals.
• Prepare reports for court and attend proceedings as required.
• Promote permanency planning and support transitions to independence.
• Ensure all statutory responsibilities are met in line with legislation and best practice.


About You
• Qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW/CQSW) and registered with Social Work England.
• Experience working with looked after children or within children's services.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989.
• Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
• Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and improving outcomes for children.
