Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join a specialist mental health rehabilitation service in London on a 6-month maternity cover contract.
The service supports men and women with enduring mental health conditions, complex needs and addiction issues. Many service users may have a forensic history or be detained under the Mental Health Act.
The successful candidate will join an established Occupational Therapy team and manage a defined caseload, delivering assessments, therapeutic interventions and rehabilitation programmes aimed at improving independence and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a designated occupational therapy caseload within the service.
Complete occupational therapy assessments and develop treatment plans aligned to care plans.
Facilitate group and individual occupational therapy interventions.
Plan and deliver therapeutic activities aimed at improving daily living skills and social inclusion.
Monitor and evaluate patient progress and adapt interventions accordingly.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support recovery and discharge planning.
Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants where required.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to care planning meetings.
Requirements
HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist.
BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification.
Minimum of 1 year post-qualification experience.
Experience working within mental health or a similar rehabilitation setting.
Knowledge of occupational therapy assessments and outcome measures.
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
Ability to manage a caseload and work within a multidisciplinary team.
Service Information
The service provides rehabilitation support for adults with complex mental health needs, including those with forensic histories or detained under the Mental Health Act. The focus of the service is to support individuals in developing coping strategies, improving life skills and progressing towards independent living.
