Income Officer

Adecco is recruiting an experienced Income Officer on behalf of our Local Authority client in Croydon. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact by helping residents sustain their tenancies and ensuring the effective management of rental income for approximately 360 properties.

• Grade 9 - 22.41 per hour PAYE / 29.60 per hour Umbrella
• Hybrid Working - 3 days per week in office, 2 days at home

Role Overview

As an Income Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring effective rent collection and arrears recovery. You will proactively support tenants in preventing arrears, promoting financial inclusion, and upholding the organisation's income management policies in alignment with best practises and relevant income legislation. Reporting to the LLP Property and Tenancy Manager, you will deliver a high-quality income and rental management service with a customer-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor rent accounts to identify arrears and take prompt action per the arrears recovery policy.
• Negotiate affordable repayment agreements and ensure adherence with tenants.
• Prepare and issue legal documents and liaise with courts for possession proceedings.
• Provide guidance to tenants on rent responsibilities, Universal Credit, and other welfare entitlements.
• Maintain accurate records on the income management system and prepare performance reports.
• Collaborate with external agencies to support vulnerable tenants and promote tenancy sustainment.

Ideal Candidate

• 3-5 years of experience in income management or rent recovery within affordable or social housing.
• Strong understanding of income legislation, including the Income Act 1988 and possession processes.
• Excellent communication, numeracy, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in income management systems (e.g., Civica, Orchard).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
