Site Manager Role in an Outstanding Primary School
An Outstanding Primary School in Bromley is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of its school premises from September. About the Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the smooth operation, maintenance, and security of the school site, ensuring that buildings and grounds remain safe, compliant, and presented to the highest standard.
Working closely with the Headteacher and School Business Manager, you will lead all aspects of site management, including planned and reactive maintenance, contractor supervision, health and safety compliance, security, and the ongoing improvement of the school's facilities. You will play a vital role in creating an environment where pupils and staff can thrive every day.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operation of the school site and premises
Carry out and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance
Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and statutory inspections
Oversee site security, alarms, CCTV, access control, and key holding responsibilities
Manage contractors and monitor the quality of maintenance works
Maintain accurate records for compliance, servicing, and inspections
Support the delivery of site improvement and refurbishment projects
Ensure classrooms, outdoor spaces, and communal areas are maintained to an excellent standard
Prepare the site for school events and community activities where required

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in site, premises, or facilities management
Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance
Experience coordinating maintenance and managing contractors
Good practical maintenance and DIY skills
Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Desirable
Experience working within a school or educational setting
IOSH or NEBOSH Health and Safety qualification
Knowledge of statutory compliance, including fire safety, asbestos, and legionella
Experience managing premises budgets and improvement projects
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within education
