How you'll make an impactCore duties
- Supporting and working with lawyers in areas such as corporate, commercial and (re)insurance.
- Supporting the reinsurance business on strategic projects.
- Conducting legal research.
- Reviewing a range standard/non-standard form agreements including but not limited to key contracts such as NDAs, Client Services Agreements, reinsurer TOBAs and intermediary TOBAs, co-broking agreements and supplier agreements
Service Delivery
- Perform duties in line with internal policies, laws, regulations, and Gallagher Re’s values, prioritising clients at the core of our business.
- Advising the business on the law and legal issues, working with all levels of business individual (including senior management team).
- Building relationships within Gallagher Re’s businesses EMEA, and its/their senior management.
- Provide legal training to non-lawyers.
Operational Process and development
- Referring matters to the Senior Counsel or the General Counsel where appropriate.
- Supervising and delegating work to legal process outsource providers and offshore group resource as appropriate.
- Ensuring material legal issues are progressed with all relevant internal stakeholders and finalise all required documentation in a timely manner.
- Developing legal templates, guidance notes, playbooks and delivering efficiency initiatives to improve service delivery.
- Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the law.
- BPTC, LPC or (SQE Part 1 completed)
- Applications from lawyers with bar admissions in other jurisdictions will be considered.
- Candidates who do not have the qualifications listed above may be considered if they have other previous paralegal experience or work experience in a legal or commercial environment.
- Language skills are highly desirable (B2 level or above)
- Experience of legal operations or implementation of CLM systems is desirable.
- Reinsurance/ Financial services sector experience, is highly desirable
- Desire to work in a global business evidenced by international secondments and internships and participation on the Erasmus or Leonardo Programmes
- Strong problem solving and communication skills with the ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
- Commercial awareness
