School Administrator – Secondary School – Redbridge, London
Location: Redbridge, London
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
School Information
A welcoming secondary school in Redbridge is looking to appoint a reliable and professional School Administrator to join its busy main office. The school is committed to creating a positive learning environment and recognises that an efficient administrative team is essential to supporting pupils, parents, teachers and senior leaders.
The successful candidate will become an important part of the school's daily operations, helping ensure that enquiries are handled professionally, records remain accurate and administrative processes run smoothly. This position would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication skills and takes pride in delivering an organised and approachable front-office service.
The Role
The School Administrator will provide general administrative and reception support, acting as one of the first points of contact for parents, visitors, pupils and external organisations.
Daily responsibilities will include answering telephone calls, responding to emails, welcoming visitors and directing enquiries to the appropriate members of staff. The postholder will help manage incoming correspondence, maintain filing systems and ensure that administrative information is recorded accurately.
The role will also involve updating pupil records on the school's management information system, preparing letters and documents, photocopying resources and assisting with the organisation of school meetings and events. The successful candidate will support staff with routine administrative requests and ensure that information is distributed efficiently.
Attendance-related administration may form part of the position, including recording absence notifications, updating pupil information and passing attendance concerns to the appropriate colleagues. The administrator will also assist with maintaining accurate contact details and ensuring that changes to pupil records are processed promptly.
As part of the wider school office team, the postholder will need to manage several responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining a professional and friendly manner. They will handle confidential information appropriately and follow the school's safeguarding, data protection and visitor management procedures.
The successful applicant will be expected to use their initiative, identify tasks requiring attention and help ensure that the main office remains organised throughout the school day.
Requirements
Applicants should have previous administrative or reception experience, ideally within a school or another busy office environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, alongside confidence using Microsoft Office and computerised record-management systems.
Candidates should be organised, approachable and capable of managing competing priorities. The ability to maintain accurate records, handle confidential information and communicate professionally with parents and colleagues is particularly important.
Experience using school management information systems would be advantageous, although candidates with transferable administrative skills are encouraged to apply.
What the School Offers
The school offers a varied administrative position within a supportive team. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience across school operations, pupil administration and reception duties, with opportunities to broaden their knowledge of the education sector.
Application
If you are an organised and personable administrator looking for an opportunity within a secondary school, please send your CV for consideration.
