Financial Crime Lawyer

An international Law firm is looking for an Experienced Financial crime/AML Lawyer to join their expanding Risk & Compliance team. Our client offers flexible working either in terms of hybrid or condensed working, and they are looking for an experienced Financial crime Lawyer with experience in a large law firm. They are looking for someone to be based out of either their London or Regional offices in the UK.

The Role:

• Playing a pivotal role in ensuring continued best in class compliance with Financial Crime and AML law and regulation
• Ensuring the firm complies with all relevant Financial Crime and AML laws and regulations
• Supporting the Head of Financial Crime and AML in ensuring that the firm's policies, procedures and operations remain in full compliance with legal requirements
• Working closely with internal stakeholders, providing advice, conducting risk assessments, and managing FC-related compliance matters
• Supporting in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective Financial Crime and AML policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and best practice
• Acting as a subject matter expert in AML, Sanctions, SAR reporting, ABC, CTF and fraud, providing expertise on high-risk cases
• Conducting the investigation and supporting in the reporting of suspicious transactions, ensuring timely submission of suspicious activity reports (SARs) to the relevant authorities
• Conducting horizon scanning and producing updates on changes and developments in Financial Crime and AML legislation and regulations, and ensuring that the firm's policies and procedures remain up-to-date and compliant
• Supporting in provision of responses to internal and external audit requests on financial crime compliance
• Supporting the Head of Financial Crime and AML on financial crime-related projects

Your Skills & Experience:

• Background in providing Financial Crime/AML advice at all levels of a regulated entity, including compliance monitoring, sanctions and financial compliance
• Experience acting as a subject matter expert across the firm on suspicious activity reporting, proceeds of crime, anti-bribery, fraud and failure to prevent tax evasion queries
• Experience in creating and providing training on Financial crime and AML risks, laws and regulations
• Experience in drafting, reviewing and implementing Financial Crime and AML policies, procedures and controls
• Experience in acting as a point of escalation for client and matter; take on queries and escalations, including financial crime/AML risk, ESG and reputational exposure considerations.
