Flagship Store Manager

The Body Shop International Limited
London

The Body Shop

When Anita Roddick founded The Body Shop in 1976, she had a vision. Business as a force for good – that’s us. Over 40 years later, we’re proud to be pioneering cruelty-free beauty every step of the way. We’re the original ethical beauty brand. We’ve got a thing for empowering people and enriching our planet. We’re all about keeping it real, in every way possible. Our activist roots remain a huge part of everything we do, from our iconic window posters to our vegetarian products to our infamous campaigns. We’re never afraid to stand up and speak the truth. We like to do things a little differently around here.

The Body Shop is committed to generating positive economic, social and environmental impact. We’re fighting for what we believe in now more than ever. No holding back. Breaking the mould has always come naturally to us, and we need someone who’s not afraid to mix things up.

Your role in a nutshell

As our Flagship Store Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to lead one of our most important retail destinations and play a pivotal role in shaping the experience our customers have with our brand.

This is more than a role focused on day-to-day store management. You’ll be the business owner of your store, with responsibility for driving sustainable commercial growth, developing an exceptional team and creating an inspiring, distinctive customer experience.

Working closely with your Regional Manager and key internal and external stakeholders, you’ll bring together commercial performance, customer experience, people development and operational excellence to deliver outstanding results.

You’ll have the autonomy to identify opportunities, make commercially informed decisions and bring your own leadership style to a high-profile store environment.

More about the role

Own the commercial performance

You’ll take full ownership of your store’s commercial performance, using insight, data and your understanding of the local market to identify opportunities and turn them into action.

  • Own and deliver the store P&L, sales performance and key commercial KPIs.
  • Build and execute a compelling business plan focused on sustainable growth.
  • Analyse performance data and translate insight into clear, commercially effective actions.
  • Identify opportunities within your local market and competitor landscape.
  • Manage costs with rigour, ensuring resource and payroll are aligned to business needs.
  • Maintain strong stock control and ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time.

Create an exceptional customer experience

Our flagship stores should bring the brand to life — creating memorable experiences that customers want to return to. You’ll lead your team to deliver operational excellence and outstanding customer KPIs, while continually looking for ways to elevate the customer journey.

  • Champion an exciting and engaging consumer proposition.
  • Deliver a joyful, sensorial customer experience that brings our purpose, products and storytelling to life.
  • Own key customer metrics, including conversion and ATV.
  • Identify and maximise visual merchandising opportunities through a commercial lens.
  • Make informed decisions around space, layout and presentation to maximise sales.
  • Drive growth in our LOVE Your Body customer membership programme.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to grow your store and its customer base.

Lead, inspire and develop an exceptional team

At the heart of a successful flagship store is an engaged, confident and high-performing team. You’ll create an environment where people feel trusted, recognised and empowered to perform at their best.

  • Lead, coach and develop your team to deliver a best-in-class customer experience.
  • Create a culture of recognition, collaboration, learning and growth.
  • Bring people together around a shared purpose and clear store objectives.
  • Identify talent and unlock individual potential through coaching and development.
  • Support succession planning and the regional talent strategy.
  • Complete effective onboarding, new starter reviews and regular one-to-ones.
  • Manage performance confidently and fairly, addressing underperformance while recognising and celebrating success.
  • Act as a role model for your team, leading through change with positivity, resilience and authenticity.

Champion operational excellence

You’ll ensure your store operates with consistency, discipline and pace, embedding robust processes that enable your team to focus on what matters most — our customers.

  • Own operational compliance and ensure the store is audit ready.
  • Embed and follow through on operational action plans.
  • Ensure processes and policies are understood and consistently followed.
  • Balance commercial ambition with strong operational discipline.

Why this opportunity?

As a Flagship Store Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference — to your customers, your team and the performance of the wider business. You’ll have the visibility and influence to shape how our brand is experienced, while developing a high-performing team and delivering meaningful commercial results.

If you’re an ambitious retail leader who thrives on responsibility, loves developing people and is excited by the opportunity to lead from the front, this is your opportunity to make your mark on one of our most important stores.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an experienced retail leader who is energised by the opportunity to lead at flagship level.

  • Proven managerial and leadership experience within retail.
  • A strong track record of leading, coaching and developing teams.
  • Commercial acumen and confidence in using data to make decisions.
  • Experience of owning and delivering against sales, payroll, customer and operational KPIs.
  • A genuine passion for creating exceptional customer experiences.
  • An understanding of local markets and the ability to spot commercial opportunities.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, adapting your style to the situation.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise people, time and resources.
  • The confidence to challenge, make decisions and take accountability for results.
  • A positive and proactive approach to change.
  • The ability to bring our purpose to life through our products, storytelling and retail experience.

You’ll be confident working with data, technology, and business performance tools, including:
