Why this role matters?

  • The purpose of Converged Service Platform function is to design, operate and deliver market leading Mobile networks. The success of the function is based upon customer centric KPIs and proactive fault resolution, monitoring & resolution processes.
  • The 2nd Line Mobile Operations teams support and manage system and service performance of services for Mobile Voice and Data services for all mobile brands.
  • You will be responsible for specifying, building, securing and supporting environments that enable subscriber services to function within a mobile phone core network. You will have both the detailed technical skills and proven experience to support the HSS Mobile Support areas.

What will I be doing?

  • Support and implement the strategy for the technical area of the team, deploying new systems, configuration changes, managing upgrades and maintenance, whilst maintaining a high level of service availability, operational efficiency and quality.
  • Represent and lead Operations responsibility in projects, ensuring design and support model fit for purpose.
  • Ensure that all platforms/ systems/services in your control achieve the agreed availability target, ensure that adequate expert support is available 24 x 7 x 365
  • Recommend changes to procedures and processes to improve service availability, data integrity and service/system performance.
  • Stability: Responsible for specifying, building, securing and supporting environments that enable subscriber services to function within the mobile core network, providing expert support for all HSS,EIR,UDM, NCS and AAA systems within the 2nd Line Mobile Operations department
  • Be the technical lead during high impact incident situations including out of hours, driving technical team to restore service.
  • Stability: Produce infrastructure management documentation such as support documents, fault finding documents & expert advice.
  • Mentor and train team members
  • Lead on your technical area of responsibility to ensure that ESN requirements are adhered to in order to meet Home Office audits and SLAs.
  • Lead technical aspects of post incident reviews, driving technical improvement opportunities identified in relation to service improvement plans.

The skills you’ll need to succeed
Provide detailed information on any qualifications, technical expertise, or security clearance that you will need for the job.
• Mandatory

  • Strong understanding and experience of 4G and 5G RAN.
  • Experience of RAN products and solutions.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of NG-RAN / O-RAN architectures.
  • An analytical thinker able to undertake complex tasks, weigh the pros and cons of options and alternatives and provide reasoned recommendations.
  • Knowledge of evolving industry trends.
  • A good understanding of the processes to develop, optimise and operate a mobile network.

• Preferred

  • Experience of Small Cells RAN products and solutions.
  • Proficient and adaptable with respect to scripting languages (Python, VBA, R, Perl, etc.)

• BPSS Security Clearance will be required.

Experience you’d be expected to have
MANDATORY:

  • Extensive experience in the mobile telecommunications industry in the role of a lead designer with business-critical, high-availability / high-throughput systems and networks.
  • Able to provide technical solutions, processes definition for mobility design.
  • In depth knowledge of Mobile Network Design.

PREFFERRED:

  • Knowledge of multiple vendor products and features including Nokia and Ericsson.
  • Experience of managing relationships with suppliers and third parties.
