The Role
We are looking for an exceptional employment lawyer based in London to join our growing global Legal team. The Legal team is a dynamic external and internal-facing function which supports all aspects of the business across all offices, from Tokyo to San Francisco. As Legal Counsel, Employment & HR, you will work closely with the Legal team in the US, Europe and Asia, as well as with our global HR and Recruiting teams. The core responsibilities of the role are:
- Mitigate employment-related risk through consistent and standardized employee contracting, effective employee conversations, and decision-making;
- Ensure the rigorous and consistent deployment of AlphaSights’ template employment contracts globally and approve any exceptions to such template contracts;
- Update and enhance AlphaSights template employment contracts, handbooks and other related documents as required by law or for business need and create procedures and process efficiencies;
- Collaborate with global leadership to understand and resolve any potential employee legal issues / grievances;
- Advise all areas of the company on employment law related issues, including performance management matters; employment law claims; terminations; recruiting; hiring; compensation and benefits; performance reviews; performance improvement plans; and employee, contractor and expert classification questions;
- Advise on employment related issues (with the support of external counsel) that arise in any supply chain or client facing contracts;
- Advise on AlphaSights’ global immigration requirements with the support of external counsel, and support the HR and Recruiting teams in this area;
- Liaise and manage external employment / immigration legal counsel globally as required;
- Provide training to the company on relevant employment-related areas;
- Advise on privacy-related employment matters, including responding to subject access requests; and
- Advise on internal investigations concerning potential conflicts of interest, financial misconduct, code of conduct issues or other violations of internal AlphaSights’ policies.
As Legal Counsel, Employment & HR, you will grow and develop in a high-growth commercial environment. We will provide you with autonomy and independence in your day-to-day work and give you the opportunity to self-start, drive change, manage and lead. You will be encouraged and empowered to take initiative and have hands-on ownership of employment & HR legal matters. This is an ideal role for someone who is keen to flex their legal muscle while having direct access to the commercial and organizational workings of a dynamic, innovative global business. We are looking for a person who wants to join our high-performance team, have real impact and be part of AlphaSights’ growth story.
What We Are Looking For
- BA/BS/LLB from a top university in the UK or other relevant law degree;
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales, with at least 4 years post qualification experience as an employment lawyer at a top firm or in-house;
- Experience in drafting employment contracts and handbooks and dealing with employee legal matters;
- Fluency in English (foreign language skills are also a plus, including German);
- Confidence and flexibility operating in a fast-paced and challenging global environment;
- An execution-focused mindset, with an inner drive to push tasks forward to ensure timely and high quality delivery;
- People-oriented, emotionally intelligent team mindset with an ability to develop strong relationships and navigate challenges across the organisation;
- Leadership by example and an ability to manage and influence teams;
- Attention to detail and curiosity, with the ability to spot issues, get to the heart of the matter, and formulate a clear solution; and
- Strong written, oral and presentation skills.
AlphaSights is an equal-opportunity employer.
