Finance Assistant
Our client specialises in helping their partners communicate their sector’s value, win government support, access new markets, attract investment and amplify their R&D programmes to drive the growth of sectors that will most contribute to a sustainable world. They are now seeking a detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the Finance team in managing daily financial operations. This key role will focus on periodic reporting, daily financial operations, banking, VAT & PSA returns, AP, AR and credit control. The ideal candidate will have 5 years plus experience working in a small business, ideally using Quickbooks Online accounting system and with good excel skills
Salary: £35,000
The Role
Accounting & Finance responsibilities
- Responsible for accurate & timely input of invoices and journals into Quickbooks General Ledger to ensure accurate records
- Preparation of month end P&L, Balance Sheet and Bank reconciliations to enable monthly reporting
- Maintain financial excel dashboards, reconcile to ledgers to ensure accurate data for decision making
- Raising accounts receivable invoices and manage credit control to drive timely receipts. Manage customer set up process.
- Process and verify supplier invoices and employee expense claims, and ensure timely payments to maintain good vendor relationships. Manage supplier set up process.
- Reconciliation of payments through the Woo Commerce system, ensuring transactions are transferred to the correct entity.
- Manage intercompany process to ensure intercompanies are reconciled and paid down.
- Preparation and upload of quarterly VAT returns and application of any HMRC Withholding Tax forms required for overseas customers
- Support the finance team to create annual budgets, including analysis of overheads.
- Responsible for managing corporate credit card and debit card and using the VPN machine
Additional Responsibilities
- Be willing to initiate or assist with any process improvements and new system implementations
Payroll Responsibilities
- Preparation of payroll spreadsheet to send to external payroll provider for processing
The Person
- 5 years + in similar role, in an SME. Quickbooks Online experience desirable
- Strong Finance and Accounting skills
- Experience in Invoicing and Financial record keeping
- Excellent Analytical Skills for financial data analysis
- Effective Communication skills, both written and verbal
- Attention to detail and organisational skills
- Proficiency in financial software tools and Microsoft Office Suite
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Be willing to initiate or assist with any process improvements and new system implementations
