Location: Various locations across South East London (Greenwich and surrounding areas) Salary: Up to £25,500 per year (depending on age, qualifications, and experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Sessional contracts available
We are recruiting for a leading provider of childcare provision for children and young people in London who are looking for a qualified and experienced Support Worker to join their team to deliver a range of activities and support to vulnerable children and young people with varied needs.
They have been successfully delivering day centres and support for vulnerable children and adults with a variety of disabilities or needs for the last 6 years, providing a safe space to socialise and gain experiences they may not be able to do alone. Their services are based on a person-centred approach that meets individual needs and aspirations, foster personal growth and independence, whilst giving each person the strongest voice with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices.
AllKidsCan has vast experience in delivering activities for SEN pupils with all variations of needs. Whatever the individual needs of the child, they will have the opportunity to experience a whole array of diverse activities. Excursions include zoo and farm trips, bowling, trampoline parks, museums, parks, seaside trips and much more. All activities are organised specifically for the groups needs to remain inclusive throughout.
The Role
Amongst other things, you'll be needed to:
Actively promote effective communication, including accessible information to facilitate involvement and decision making
Contribute to the development of person-centred planning, ensuring each individual’s plan has meaningful and achievable goals with positive outcomes that meet aspirations as well as needs
Ensure all personal care tasks are carried out with respect for privacy and dignity and in line with the needs, wishes and preferences of the individual as defined in the support plan
Support people to participate in the community by accessing local facilities and wider community resources and promote social inclusion.
Act as a keyworker and/or co-keyworker to coordinate and develop the support to the individual including person centred plans, daily activity plans and other agreed plans
Contribute to the development of positive working relationships with family and carers and develop their understanding of the principles of the service delivery
Administer medication in line with the policy and the individual’s care plans
At all times to work within the company’s Equal Opportunities Policy and Procedure
Maintain the security of the building and the safety of the people receiving support and members of the staff team
Always be flexible and responsive to meet the changing needs of the service, the people being supported and the staff team
The Person
As a Support Worker, you will ideally bring:
Experience working with children or young people in a coaching, education, youth work or care environment
A background in sports coaching or creative activity planning and delivery
Relevant qualifications in education, sports coaching, youth work or childcare (or willingness to train)
Experience supporting children with SEND
Knowledge of trauma informed or therapeutic approaches
An up-to-date DBS
Strong communication and relationship building skills
Empathy, patience, and resilience
Flexibility and adaptability to work across different settings and environments
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
Confident communicating with children, parents and carers, schools and local authorities
