Part-Time Social Events Organiser
We are looking for a part-time Social Events Organiser to join one of the largest and oldest friendly societies in the UK, within the North London District. The Society aim is to improve the quality of life for their members through active social involvement, care support and a range of financial benefits and services to members in North London.
The hours and rewardsThe position of Social Events Organiser is for an average 20 hours per week. You'll be predominantly working remotely from home although travel to events will be expected. The role is permanent, based on a successful probationary period. The rate of pay is £17 per hour, and all out of pocket expense will be reimbursed. You will be expected to work on your own initiative with a flexible approach. Hours may include some weekend and evening work in line with our service delivery. The role
As Social Events Organiser you will have a key role supporting their existing members to get social and active, as well as bring in new members to enjoy what the Society has to offer. You will:
- Have an active role in developing the Branch to achieve its full potential
- Aim to establish new groupings in relevant areas
- Be a highly social and caring person to create fun and friendships
- Demonstrate a sympathetic position to the ethos of the Society
- Become familiar with the Society s values and want to become a member yourself
Key responsibilities
- Being involved in the creation/execution of a social and membership development plan
- Research the interests, hobbies, age and geographic spread of the membership to organise social events which appropriately reflect their interests and location
- Take bookings, contact members to remind them about forthcoming events and undertake follow up thank you calls
- Develop relationships and network with local like-minded organisations to increase awareness of the Branch and its activities
- Produce a branded events diary and keeping the Events Booking System up to date
- Support social committee members and proactively encourage other members to volunteer
- Attend social committee meetings and events
About you
As a Social Events Organiser, you must have/be:
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, email, internet and social media (Facebook in particular)
- A full clean driving licence and access to a car
- Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoys meeting new people, ensuring that everyone feels part of any event
- Able to budget effectively and manage money
- Flexible and prepared to work evenings and weekends
- A proven ability to work to deadlines without supervision
- Strong organisational skills
- Persuasive and confident about putting fresh ideas forward
- Resourceful and able to overcome challenges
- Willing to work with a range of people with different backgrounds and social circumstances
