Caretaker - Bromley
We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands-on Caretaker to join a well-established primary school in Bromley, starting ASAP. This is a key role for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
The school has a strong community ethos and values teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail. As a Caretaker, you will ensure that school buildings and grounds are secure, well-maintained, and fully operational at all times, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain the school premises, ensuring cleanliness and safety
Carry out minor repairs, maintenance, and improvements as required
Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, and other building systems
Open and close the school, including securing buildings and grounds
Assist with the setup and supervision of school events and activities
Monitor and manage school equipment, tools, and supplies
Liaise with contractors and service providers when necessary
Report hazards, maintenance needs, and safety concerns promptly
Support compliance with health, safety, and security policies
Work collaboratively with staff to ensure a safe and welcoming environment
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Have previous experience in a caretaker, premises, or maintenance role
Be proactive, reliable, and practical
Have hands-on skills for minor repairs and maintenance tasks
Be organised and able to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
Have good communication skills and work well as part of a team
Be committed to health, safety, and safeguarding standards
