Geography Teacher - Progressive Secondary School in Hackney
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Paid to scale (Inner London Framework)
The Role
A progressive Secondary School in Hackney is seeking a professional, highly analytical, and exceptionally organised Geography Teacher to join their expanding Humanities faculty. This role represents a brilliant opportunity to champion global systems, environmental sustainability, and spatial analysis within an Inner London department featuring modern fieldwork equipment, digital mapping tools, and dedicated study suites.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional leadership across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. The timetable will involve delivering a rich, challenging curriculum covering tectonic hazards, coastal geomorphology, and urbanisation metrics at GCSE, alongside advanced modules in global migration, carbon and water cycles, geopolitical frameworks, and landscape systems at A-Level. Beyond classroom teaching, responsibilities include constructing comprehensive student tracking portfolios, implementing targeted technical intervention tracks for data analysis fluency, managing parental correspondence, and actively coordinating the department's regional fieldwork excursions and local GIS mapping initiatives.
You will act as a primary link with parents, examination boards, and local environmental research networks, requiring absolute professionalism and data accuracy at all times. Strong organisational skills are a prerequisite, as you will balance heavy mock diagnostic marking cycles with real-time digital progress logging and field safety documentation within a fast-paced urban school framework.
