Lead Business Analyst
Job Description
Lead Business Analyst
London
Up to £70,000 + Benefits | Hybrid Working
This role sits within a leading law practice operating a mature and expanding Change function. As Lead Business Analyst, you will play a central role in shaping, analysing, and delivering a varied portfolio of business change and technology initiatives. The Change Team oversees firm‑wide governance and delivery, and you will work closely with senior stakeholders, third‑party suppliers, and technology partners to ensure all initiatives are effectively planned, governed, and delivered.
This is a hands‑on leadership position where you will challenge assumptions, investigate root causes rather than symptoms, and ensure that business requirements, processes, and outcomes are clearly defined, documented, and aligned to strategic objectives. You will work across both business process improvement and technology‑driven projects, helping the firm improve operational efficiency, agility, and service quality.
Role Responsibilities: Identify true root causes of business problems and analyse opportunities for business improvement and increased agility. Challenge predetermined solutions and evaluate options against business needs, constraints, and objectives. Elicit, document, and manage high‑quality business requirements, ensuring clarity, ownership, and traceability throughout the lifecycle. Capture current‑state business processes using recognised BA techniques, and work sensitively with stakeholders to shape future‑state process models. Manage relationships with internal teams, external suppliers, software vendors, and consultants to ensure the successful and optimised delivery of change. Ensure solutions meet business needs, and that expected benefits are clearly understood, tracked, and realised.
Additional Responsibilities: Act in a consultancy capacity to run workshops, interviews, use cases, scenarios, and other structured techniques for requirement elicitation. Build strong relationships across the firm to understand and improve processes. Provide support, challenge, and leadership to ensure high standards across the business analysis function. Work proactively as part of the Change Team, maintaining resilience, collaboration, and a positive approach to setbacks.
Experience Required: Solid experience as a Business Analyst within a law firm or professional services environment, with strong understanding of business change, process improvement, and technology‑enabled transformation. Proven capability in requirements gathering, stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, and business process modelling. Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate feasibility, constraints, and value. Able to manage internal and external relationships and work within a structured governance framework.
Working Model: Hybrid working pattern based in London, typically 2–3 days per week in the office depending on project needs. Some travel to other office locations may be required.
Package: Salary up to £70,000, strong benefits package, professional development support, and the opportunity to influence firm‑wide change initiatives.
Candidate Profile: A confident and pragmatic Lead Business Analyst with strong communication skills, the ability to challenge constructively, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality analysis. Someone who embodies the firm’s values — approachable, straightforward, supportive, and distinctive — while building trusted relationships across the organisation and contributing to the ongoing development of the Change Team.
