Engineering Manager - PHP

We’re seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our ASG Engineering team working on our SaaS estate agency product Jupix and its customer facing application PropertyFile. This is a fast growing and exciting business going through change, where we have relationships with over 25,000 estate agent and developer customers across the UK.
Who you are
- Recruiting, guiding, and nurturing diverse and seasoned engineering teams. We consistently enhance and review our recruitment efforts to achieve progress in this area.
- Collaborating with your peers and the director of engineering to develop and expand our product and engineering organisation through efficient interviewing, recruitment, and orientation processes.
- Guiding, advising and coaching engineers through regular one-on-one meetings, objective setting, and continuous feedback cycles.
- Develop and maintain critical regulatory and security features using PHP/Laravel.
- Take ownership of your work from design to deployment, either independently or as part of a collaborative team.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to translate complex business problems into elegant, customer-focused solutions.
- Contribute to the modernisation of our infrastructure and applications, ensuring our platform is resilient and performant.
Our Technology Stack
Backend: PHP/Laravel, MariaDB
Frontend: Javascript/HTML/CSS
Infrastructure: Self-managed Linux servers in the OVH cloud, MariaDB, NGINX, Ansible (Infrastructure as Code), RabbitMQ, Redis, AWS S3, Jenkins
What we are looking for
- A software engineer with a strong background in PHP and Laravel
- Someone who is comfortable building large-scale front- and back-end systems.
- Knowledge of designing and implementing REST APIs.
- Knowledge of the above infrastructure technologies and their operational support.
- Possess senior-level engineering experience and capable of leading technical discussions among the team. Experience in overseeing performance and delivery for our product development team.
- Find pleasure in and are at ease engaging directly with customers to grasp their issues and find out what is important to them
- Drive effective communication within teams. This includes asynchronous communication via documentation. We use Architectural Decision Records (ADRs) for teams to let others know what they are working on
- Accustomed to operating with significant alignment and independence, and comfortable navigating technical uncertainty.
