PR and Communications Manager
Role Overview:
Liberty is home to the artistic community, with creative discovery at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for a confident, culturally connected PR and communications leader to strengthen our reputation, tell our stories and create moments that build both brand desire and commercial impact.
You will lead PR and communications across Liberty Retail, Liberty Brand, Liberty Fabrics and LBTY beauty. You will deliver retail PR in-house and set the direction for the agencies supporting our other brands, ensuring that every story reflects one coherent Liberty voice.
Key Responsibilities:
Communications strategy and brand guardianship
Lead an integrated PR and communications strategy across Liberty’s businesses, aligned with brand priorities, launch plans and commercial objectives.
Act as communications brand guardian, ensuring consistent positioning, tone of voice and quality across press materials, agency output and campaigns.
Advise senior stakeholders on opportunities and reputational risks, supporting sensitive media responses.
Liberty Retail
Set the in-house retail PR strategy across Beauty, Fashion, Jewellery and Home, positioning Liberty as a destination for creative discovery.
Lead PR for new department launches and major priorities, particularly for Beauty.
Create distinctive press events that push creative boundaries and generate organic social coverage.
Partner with Digital Marketing to secure affiliate and SEO coverage that drives discovery and traffic.
Liberty Brand, Liberty Fabrics and LBTY: agency leadership
Set the PR direction for each business through clear agency briefs, challenging and developing their work and holding partners accountable for its impact.
Drive PR to support Liberty’s international expansion, particularly in the US, alongside a strong UK presence.
Cultural relevance and creative ideas
Stay close to emerging conversations across art, music, fashion, beauty and design.
Develop original PR concepts, collaborations and editorial narratives that attract new audiences.
Press and influential communities
Build trusted relationships with journalists, editors, creators and tastemakers, including voices beyond traditional beauty and fashion.
Lead proactive pitching and media briefings, and develop profiling opportunities for senior leaders, particularly buyers, telling the story of an enduring cultural institution whose influence extends beyond the store.
About You:
A strong track record of leading PR and communications strategies for a distinctive consumer brand, retailer or relevant agency portfolio.
Experience balancing product publicity with brand-building campaigns, with meaningful coverage across consumer and trade media.
Strong beauty PR expertise, alongside the curiosity to lead storytelling across fashion, jewellery, home, fabrics and culture.
Established relationships across press and creative communities, with evidence of reaching new audiences.
Experience originating creative ideas and converting cultural insight into successful campaigns, collaborations or editorial stories.
Proven ability to brief, challenge and manage external agencies.
Excellent writing and editing skills, with a clear understanding of tone of voice and positioning.
A strategic understanding of digital PR, affiliate publishing and SEO.
Experience managing budgets, concurrent campaigns and senior stakeholders.
Liberty is proud to be an equal opportunities employer and opposes all forms of unlawful discrimination. We are committed to creating an environment where people from all backgrounds can thrive – bringing their unique perspectives, skills, and experience to everything we do.
We are dedicated to eliminating both conscious and unconscious bias from our practices. Our approach is grounded in respect, fairness, and consistency, ensuring that no one is treated less favourably based on gender, race, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion or belief, or any other protected characteristic.
