Commis Chef - London Marriott Hotel Marble Arch

POSITION SUMMARY

To assist the Executive Head Chef in the day-to-day preparation, production and service of food items whilst undergoing structured training.

To maintain and improve standards of hygiene within the constraints of company legislative policy

SCOPE / BUSINESS CONTEXT
• A position based at the London Marriott Hotel Maida Vale.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Experience:
• No experience necessary. A passion for cooking is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge
• Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
• Pro-active and reliable
• Able to work alone and within a team
• Physical fitness (job involves pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, upward reaching, prolonged periods of standing and/or walking)
• Flexible to work any shift including weekends, bank holidays and nights on occasions

Education or Certification
• Minimum GCSE or equivalent
• Good level of English essential

SPECIFIC DUTIES
The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:
1. To arrive for duty at the correct time wearing the correct uniform, maintaining complete personal hygiene and neat appearance at all times
2. To assist the department in achieving hygiene assessment standards by adhering to hygiene schedules in place
3. To ensure that all food produced is to standard specification and the standard laid down as shown in your training
4. To carry out other duties within the general scope and purpose of the job as designated by the Executive Head Chef
5. To know and adhere to the fire/evacuation regulations of the hotel and kitchen department
6. To ensure all health and safety and security policies and procedures are adhered to
7. To attend “in house” training and staff meetings as required

OTHER
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by management.
• Complies with Marriott International Hotels Limited Regional Office policies and procedures.
• Working hours as required to do your job but normally not less than 40 hours per week.

Working Conditions:

All Associates are provided with a Marriott Uniform including; Trousers/Skirt, Shirt/Blouse, Waistcoats and Jackets (Where Necessary).

All associates are expected to wear the correct uniform, and their name badge at all times. You are required to maintain high standards of personal hygiene, ensuring that you are always clean and well turned out during your working hours. In the eyes of the guest, you represent Marriott.

Social Conditions:

To be based mainly within the Kitchen area, but to remain mobile around the whole of the hotel

Economic Conditions:

All Associates are entitled to a free meal on duty, in the associate canteen; Annual holiday pay; Changing Facilities; Uniform Dry Cleaning Facilities; A Marriott Worldwide Discount Card (after completion of the Marriott 90 days training scheme); Company Pension Scheme, after six months of service.
