The Head of Physics will be a well-qualified specialist. Holding QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, you will have the ability to teach from KS3 to KS5.

We are looking for a strong communicator with proven skills in engaging with, inspiring and motivating, not just the school community but the wider community.

The successful candidate will:

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, and, ideally, be able to show evidence of ongoing professional development
• Demonstrate outstanding teaching practice and excellent behaviour management
• Have experience of lesson observations and giving robust feedback
• Have experience of improvement planning and of implementing a range of strategies to raise student achievement, with evidence of success
• Be able to contribute to improving on the quality of learning and teaching and curriculum
• Have a proven track record of excellent results at KS3 and 4, and, ideally, experience of teaching to KS5
• Have experience of high quality pupil tracking and feedback practices
• Have a strong knowledge of curriculum developments and educational practice
• Have excellent communication and organisational skills
• Have the ability to motivate others with high expectations
• Have passion, energy, resilience, and commitment to making a difference for young people
• Have dedication to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
• Have enthusiasm for contributing to the wider life and vision of the academy

The purpose of your role will be:

• To be accountable for leading, managing and developing Physics
• To raise standards of student attainment and achievement within the whole subject/curriculum area and to monitor and support student progress
• To ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students studying in the department
• To teach Physics across the age and ability range
• To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
• To effectively manage and deploy staff, financial and physical resources within the departmen
• To share and support the school's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth
