Product Manager

Job Description

Job Summary

Quantemol is seeking a Product Manager to define and drive the development of our scientific software products, including Quantemol QDB and QVT. You will take primary responsibility for shaping product direction, prioritising development efforts, and ensuring our software delivers clear value to users across research and industry.

The role sits at the intersection of scientific software, user needs, and business strategy, helping ensure that product development is focused, coherent, and aligned with both customer requirements and company objectives. You will work closely with the Technical Programme Manager, scientists, and engineers to translate product vision into actionable plans and delivered features.

This is a full-time, remote-first role with attendance at our London offices required on average 4-6 times per month. Salary range: £55,000-£65,000 GBP pa. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. Proof of eligibility will be required prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop the product vision and roadmap for Quantemol’s software platforms.
  • Define and prioritise product requirements based on user needs, technical feasibility, and business value.
  • Work closely with the Technical Programme Manager to align product priorities with delivery plans and resource constraints.
  • Gather and synthesise user feedback from customers, collaborators, and internal stakeholders.
  • Translate scientific and technical capabilities into clear product features and user-facing value propositions.
  • Maintain and refine product backlogs, ensuring clarity and prioritisation of development work.
  • Collaborate with scientists and software engineers to ensure effective implementation of product features.
  • Support customer engagement, including product demonstrations, feedback sessions, and requirements discussions.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including shaping proposals, supporting grant applications, and defining product positioning.
  • Monitor product performance and usage, identifying opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Develop and maintain product documentation, including feature specifications and user-facing materials.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or computational discipline.
  • Experience in product management or a closely related role within a technical, scientific, or software environment.
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear product requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams, including scientists and software engineers.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Exceptional Candidates

  • Experience managing scientific or engineering software products from concept to release.
  • Experience working directly with customers to define product requirements and validate solutions.
  • Track record of shaping product strategy in a small or growing technology company.
  • Experience contributing to grant applications, funding proposals, or commercial product development.

Preferred

  • PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Background in plasma physics, computational chemistry, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with scientific software development workflows and tools.
  • Experience with Agile or product-led development methodologies.
  • Understanding of data-driven products, scientific databases, or simulation software.

Experience with product analytics, user research, or UX design principles.
