Accounts Payable Clerk
- Location: South-East London, on-site
- Job Type: Full-time, year-round, or term-time plus two weeks.
- Salary: Circa £32,000 (pro rata if not year-round)
- Reporting to: Accounts Payable Supervisor
Join this Multi-Academy Trust as an Accounts Payable Clerk/Finance Assistant, where you will play a crucial role in their finance team under the guidance of the Accounts Payable Supervisor. This position is focused on ensuring efficient and accurate payment processing while adhering to established financial controls, policies, and procedures.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:-
Payment Processing:
- Verify invoices and payment requests for accuracy and compliance with Trust policies.
- Accurately input payment data into financial systems, including invoice details, payment amounts, and account codes.
- Assist in scheduling payments within the Trust's terms, ensuring necessary approvals are obtained.
- Process bank transactions accurately, verifying transaction details for completeness.
- Maintain strict adherence to financial controls and ensure data integrity.

Reconciliation Support:
- Assist in monthly bank reconciliations and verify financial records.
- Prepare month-end and year-end accruals and prepayments.
- Assist with various period-end balance sheet reconciliations.

Documentation and Filing:
- Raise sales invoices for schools.
- Maintain organised and up-to-date payment documentation and records.
- Retrieve payment-related documents promptly for audits, inquiries, or reporting.

Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the payment processing team and Accounts Payable Supervisor to resolve payment-related issues.
- Participate in initiatives to improve the efficiency and accuracy of payment processing.
- Good general education, including GCSEs in English and Maths.
- Experience in an accounts payable function.
- Strong ICT skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of personal organisation and attention to detail.
- Desirable: Qualification in Accountancy (AAT), experience using Trust finance systems, and knowledge of PSF or Parent Pay platforms.
- Support the development and use of financial management systems within the Trust.
- Ensure compliance with external audit requirements and make recommendations for system improvements.
- Consider training, budgetary, and resourcing implications when making system change recommendations.
