Acute Podiatrist
Job overview
The King’s Radiology team are seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and motivated radiographers to bring strong clinical expertise, leadership, and teaching support to our dynamic, forward-thinking team. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a dedicated workforce within a prestigious Trust, where innovation, a commitment to making a difference, and a passion for patient-centred care define our approach. We welcome applications from experienced radiographers who share these values.
As a Band 7 Senior Radiographer, you will play a proactive role in the daily management of your modalities and deputise for superintendents when required. The role calls for candidates confident in training and mentoring rotational radiographers, particularly in advanced imaging applications, while developing their own clinical, managerial, and leadership skills.
The position involves rotation between two of the following areas: CT, IR (including Neuro IR), and Cardiac Catheter Labs. While comprehensive training will be provided, applicants must demonstrate expertise in two of these skills. Responsibilities will also include coordinating work within the general x-ray department when necessary.
Candidates with experience in Neuroangiography are particularly encouraged to apply.
The department has recently undergone significant upgrades, with two new angiography systems installed recently, a third system due for completion in June 2026, and a new CT scanner scheduled for Spring 2026.
Main duties of the job
- Actively lead in the training and development of radiographers, assistant practitioners and student radiographers, assuming professional responsibility for their work.
- Act as team leader, providing support and leadership for the other radiographers working within the department.
- Ensure clinical governance protocols are complied with and corrective actions taken where required.
- Perform out of hours duties, leading the Radiology on-call service for both ED and in-patients requiring emergency specialist imaging or intervention.
- Monitor and adjust work priorities in conjunction with other professionals to take into account changing demands on the imaging service due to emergencies, ensuring that the Trust emergency imaging targets are met, particularly during out of hours duties.
- Act as a source of knowledge on CT, interventional radiology and/or cardiac imaging matters to be consulted by other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Communicate complex information relating to procedures and radiation risks to staff, patients and carers and ensure informed consent for examinations.
- Contribute to service development initiatives in response to the findings of audit and recent evidence by implementing recommendations and monitoring their effectiveness.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the out-of-hours rota as part of a four-day week shift pattern.
