Opportunity to lead and develop a strong Chemistry department
Our client is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Chemistry to join a successful school in Harrow. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Chemistry teacher with leadership experience who is keen to take responsibility for the continued development of the subject across the school.
The successful candidate will lead the Chemistry department, providing direction and support to colleagues while ensuring students receive an engaging, challenging and well-structured curriculum. You will be expected to maintain high standards of teaching and learning, monitor pupil progress and contribute to the development of departmental priorities.
Alongside departmental leadership, the role will involve teaching Chemistry to the appropriate key stages. The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and be able to inspire students to engage with both the theoretical and practical aspects of Chemistry.

The school is based in Harrow and offers a supportive and collaborative environment for staff. The Science department is well established, with opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute to curriculum development, assessment and wider school improvement.
As Head of Chemistry, you will work closely with departmental colleagues and senior leaders to ensure that students receive a consistent and ambitious Chemistry education. You will also support colleagues through mentoring, collaborative planning and the sharing of effective teaching strategies.
This position would be well suited to an experienced Head of Chemistry, Chemistry Lead or ambitious Second in Department who is ready to take on a broader leadership role.
Experience and Qualifications:
Qualified Chemistry Teacher with QTS
Strong Chemistry subject knowledge
Experience teaching Chemistry across KS3, KS4 and/or KS5
Previous departmental or subject leadership experience
Ability to lead curriculum planning and development
Strong understanding of assessment, progress monitoring and intervention
Ability to support, mentor and develop colleagues
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Commitment to high standards and positive student outcomes
Legal ability to work within the UK
