School Finance Officer | Hackney (Inner London)
An established and highly successful co-educational secondary school in Hackney is looking to appoint an organized and numerical School Finance Officer for a permanent position starting immediately. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy, professional finance team and manage day-to-day transactional accounting processes in a school that values logic, clear systems, and professional integrity.
The successful candidate will lead on core transactional processes, including processing purchase orders, reconciling invoices, managing supplier queries, tracking school trip funding, and assisting with monthly budget monitoring. The finance office operates with deeply embedded, clear routines, allowing you to manage financial cycles calmly and with complete professional support.

The Role:
Processing high-volume purchase orders and supplier invoices accurately
Conducting bank reconciliations and managing petty cash transactions
Investigating and resolving supplier payment queries in a professional manner
Assisting the School Business Manager with monthly budget variance reports
Managing parent payment portals for school lunches, trips, and resources
Requirements:
Applicants must have:
Previous school experience handling transaction processing and bookkeeping within a school finance office
Strong working proficiency in school finance software (such as FMS, Access Education, or SIMS Finance)
Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data analysis)
Excellent communication skills and high numerical accuracy
The legal right to work in the UK
Salary:
£31,000 – £36,500 per annum (Inner London Pay Scale)
