We are recruiting on behalf of a long-established and reputable contractor specialising in roofing and external refurbishment works within the social housing sector . Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of upcoming tenders, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Roofing Estimator to join their commercial team based in Barnet .

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented estimator with a solid background in roofing and external works to take ownership of pricing and tendering for both new and existing frameworks.

The Role
As Roofing Estimator, you will be responsible for the preparation and submission of competitive, accurate tenders for roofing works - primarily for social housing clients across London and surrounding areas. You'll work closely with operational, surveying, and bid teams to ensure tender submissions are commercially sound and reflect client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for roofing projects including pitched, flat, and specialist systems

• Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents

• Undertake site visits to assess project scope, access, and logistical considerations

• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes

• Prepare and present tender submissions, including supporting documentation

• Assist in post-tender negotiations and handovers to project delivery teams

• Keep up to date with market rates, material costs, and innovations in roofing solutions

• Maintain relationships with housing clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Estimator with a focus on roofing or external refurbishment

• Strong background in the social housing, local authority, or public sector markets

• Good technical understanding of roofing systems (flat/pitched/felt/sheeting and cladding)

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office

• Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills

• Self-motivated, organised, and able to work to deadlines

• Based within commutable distance of Barnet
