Senior Manager - IRRBB

HSBC Global Services Limited
London

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We're currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager - IRRBB.

You'll have the opportunity to work at the heart of HSBC’s Global Treasury, directly supporting the Global Head of IRRBB Reporting and Insights in shaping, implementing and tracking the bank’s Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) risk management strategy. You'll have broad exposure to senior stakeholders across Markets Treasury, regional IRRBB teams, Finance, IT, and Investor Relations, while driving global reporting, providing actionable insights into earnings and value sensitivities, and ensuring sustainable success through robust conduct, control, and regulatory frameworks. You'll also be able to make a strategic impact in a collaborative, high-performing environment, with the chance to influence best practices and continuous improvement across HSBC’s global footprint.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role, you'll:
  • Support the Global Head of IRRBB Reporting & Insights in shaping and executing HSBC’s IRRBB risk management strategy across the global business
  • Ensure timely, consistent, and best-practice global reporting of IRRBB, providing actionable insights into the drivers of earnings and value sensitivities
  • Act as the IRRBB subject matter expert for all global sites, advising on best-in-class risk mitigation approaches and supporting the adoption of lessons learned and continual improvement
  • Conduct proactive ad hoc analysis, source new data, and develop approaches to better understand IRRBB drivers, while working with teams to operationalise and automate recurring analysis
  • Build and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders, represent the business at governance committees, and ensure robust conduct, control, and regulatory compliance in all activities

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience within IRRBB, with strong knowledge of market best-in-class practice around risk management, methodologies, governance frameworks, and the external regulatory environment
  • Proven track record in developing new analysis to understand underlying patterns and recommend management actions, using both detailed data analysis as well as high-level “rule-of-thumb” triangulations to validate your findings
  • Comprehensive understanding of banking book products and behaviours, structural hedging frameworks, and associated modelling and metrics such as Net Interest Income (NII) and Economic Value of Equity (EVE) sensitivities, ideally supported by relevant qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with systems, data, and modelling infrastructure that supports IRRBB, as well as broader financial planning and analysis
  • Proven ability to structure and drive large-scale strategy implementation, resolve complex issues through leadership and influence, and manage transformation activities in a global banking environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong track record of engaging, challenging, and influencing senior management and diverse stakeholders across regions and functions
