Fractional Senior Merchandiser - Menswear

The Growth Foundation
London

We are supporting a growing menswear fashion brand to recruit an experienced Senior Merchandiser to support them on a fractional basis. This role will work with the founder to lead merchandise strategy, range planning and trading performance across a menswear product portfolio, combining strong commercial judgement with a deep understanding of culture, trends and customer behaviour.

The role is suited to an established fashion merchandiser who can work independently, quickly understand business priorities and make a measurable impact within a flexible engagement.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the merchandising strategy for the menswear product range.

  • Lead seasonal range planning, category architecture and option planning across relevant product categories.

  • Build and manage the merchandise financial plan, including sales, margin, intake, stock and markdown targets.

  • Analyse historical performance, market trends, customer insights and competitor activity to inform product and trading decisions.

  • Partner with buying and design teams to create balanced, commercially relevant and differentiated ranges.

  • Set product-level targets for sales, margin, intake, pricing and stock cover.

  • Provide clear recommendations on rebuys, replenishment, cancellations, markdowns, promotions and stock transfers.

  • Work with supply chain and operations teams to improve availability, delivery timing and inventory efficiency.

  • Support launch calendars and ensure product drops are commercially planned and effectively sequenced.

  • Develop concise trading reports, sales forecasts and executive-level recommendations.

  • Identify merchandising risks and opportunities, taking decisive action in a fast-moving streetwear environment.

  • Share best practice and strengthen merchandising processes, tools and reporting frameworks.

About you

  • Significant experience in senior merchandising, fashion merchandising, apparel merchandising or streetwear merchandising.

  • Strong understanding of streetwear, contemporary fashion, youth culture and changing consumer behaviour.

  • Proven experience managing merchandise planning and trading performance across multiple product categories.

  • Commercially focused, with a strong understanding of sales, gross margin, sell-through, intake, stock turn and markdown management.

  • Confident interpreting data and translating analysis into clear, practical commercial actions.

  • Experience working with seasonal collections, product drops, limited releases or fast-paced trading calendars.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

  • Highly organised, analytical and comfortable working autonomously in a fractional or consultancy capacity.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex information accessible.

  • Strong Excel skills and experience using merchandising, planning, ERP or business intelligence systems.

  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively.

Desirable experience

  • Experience within a direct-to-consumer, e-commerce, wholesale or multi-channel streetwear business.

  • Experience working with international markets or multi-currency merchandise plans.

  • Knowledge of product lifecycle management and fashion product development processes.

  • Experience supporting business growth, range transformation or merchandising function development.

What success looks like

  • A clear and commercially robust streetwear merchandise strategy is established.

  • Range plans are aligned with customer demand, brand direction and financial targets.

  • Trading decisions improve availability, sell-through, margin and stock efficiency.

  • Cross-functional teams have clear priorities, timely insight and actionable recommendations.

  • Merchandising processes, reporting and decision-making become more consistent and effective.

Engagement

This is a fractional engagement with an initial piece of scoping work, working pattern and duration agreed according to business requirements. The role may suit an independent consultant, interim leader or experienced senior merchandiser seeking a flexible arrangement.

Please include details of your relevant streetwear or fashion merchandising experience, availability and expected day rate when applyng.
