Job Title: Family Support Worker

Location: Southwark, South London

Salary: £29,000 – £34,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (Term-time only + INSET days)

About the School

We are seeking an empathetic, proactive, and resilient Family Support Worker on behalf of a vibrant school in Southwark. The school places inclusion, pupil wellbeing, and strong community partnerships at the heart of its mission. Working alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and pastoral management, you will play a vital role in delivering early help interventions, supporting vulnerable families, and removing social and emotional barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted early help support and action plans to vulnerable pupils and their families.

• Conduct regular home visits to build positive, trusting relationships between home and school.

• Lead and coordinate Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings, early help assessments, and individual care plans.

• Work collaboratively with external agencies, including Southwark Children's Social Care, CAMHS, housing services, and local charities.

• Maintain accurate, confidential records on safeguarding platforms (e.g., CPOMS) in compliance with school policy and legislation.

• Support parents with strategies for behavior management, attendance routines, and navigating local community resources.

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Family Support Worker, Early Help Practitioner, or Pastoral Lead within a school, local authority, or social care setting.

• In-depth understanding of safeguarding frameworks (KCSIE), child protection procedures, and trauma-informed practice.

• Skilled in managing a varied casework load, conducting risk assessments, and navigating sensitive family situations with empathy and tact.

• Excellent communication, de-escalation, and conflict-resolution skills.

• An Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
