Ward Administrator
Job overview
The post holder will be responsible for providing a wide range of administrative support to the Neurosciences care group. The post holder will manage the admissions services within Neurosciences and duties will include the management of office administration and admissions services, assisting in the maintenance and development of effective information systems and support the continuance of high standards of professional practice throughout the Department. In addition to these on-going duties, the post holder will be required to undertake specific projects in accordance with the Care Group’s service and business objectives. The post holder will be required to monitor and maintain the performance of these services.
The post holder will be expected to exercise initiative, prioritise conflicting work demands and effectively communicate verbally and in writing with the multi-disciplinary team, internal departments and external agencies to ensure continuity in achieving excellence in patient care.
Main duties of the job
General Administration
· To provide general administrative support to the Assistant Service Manager including minute taking, arranging meetings and supporting recruitment as necessary.
· To attend the all necessary service meetings and feedback issues and matters arising as appropriate.
· To establish and maintain a comprehensive health roster absence monitoring system for all admissions coordinators in the team.
· To be responsible for producing and circulating rotas for Neurosciences clinical teams.
· To initiate and implement local policies and guidelines to ensure that all care group administration/communication is consistent in style and format.
Patient Admissions
· To have overall responsibility for Neurosurgery admissions, troubleshoot and escalate any concerns accordingly.
· Deal professionally with patient queries in line with guidance from the Trust’s Access Policy using tact and persuasive skills.
· To be the main point of escalation for patient, community and consultant queries related to admissions within the Neurosciences care group.
