Assistant Underwriter

Jensten Underwriting  is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented  Assistant Underwriter  to join our dynamic team in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ideally with insurance experience, whether from an underwriting environment or a broking background, who’s ready to grow and develop in a supportive, fast-paced setting.

About the Role

As an  Assistant Underwriter  at  Jensten Underwriting , you’ll be an integral part of a collaborative and fast-paced team, supporting the delivery of tailored insurance solutions to our clients. You’ll work closely with experienced underwriters, gaining hands-on exposure to the full underwriting lifecycle—from quotations and renewals to policy adjustments and documentation.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, thrives on detail, and is eager to build strong relationships with brokers and insurers. You’ll help ensure we continue to deliver the high standards our clients rely on.

This is a  full-time hybrid role based in London , offering the flexibility to work both remotely and from our office.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assist with data entry and documentation for business transactions

• Communicate with clients and insurers via letters, emails, and calls

• Handle incoming calls and broker queries

• Chase renewals and new business quotations

• Keep internal procedures and documents up to date

With training and supervision, you’ll also:

• Provide quotations and invite renewals

• Process mid-term adjustments, cancellations, and lapses

• Issue statutory and policy documentation (e.g., IDD, TOBA, Statement of Facts, cover notes)

What We’re Looking For

• Strong communication skills and attention to detail

• Experience in the insurance industry—desirable but not essential

• Knowledge of insurance products, regulations, and procedures

• Competent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel

• A proactive and collaborative mindset

• Comfortable speaking with insurers and brokers over the phone

• Familiarity with Commercial Combined insurance is highly desirable
