Data Analyst
We follow a hybrid working style, with three days per week spent in our Tower Bridge office.
Zoopla is one of the UK’s most instantly recognisable property brands. In fact, we’re known and loved by over 91% of the nation (and we’re working hard on the other 9%). Our mission is to help the nation make better home decisions - by connecting everyone to their home and giving them personalised insights to help with moving, managing or financing. Over 50 million people visit Zoopla every month to access exclusive data and information on every UK property, search over 500,000 homes for sale and rent, find the best agents and secure the latest mortgage deals.
We’re a growing, dynamic team that embraces innovation and isn’t afraid to push the boundaries. We’re only just starting our journey to redefine the digital property landscape, with much more to explore and achieve. Join us, and transform the way the nation makes home decisions.
Position Overview
Every month millions of people visit Zoopla searching over 500,000 homes for sale and rent, finding the best agents and securing the latest mortgage deals looking for help on one of the biggest decisions in life. Where’s my next home going to be?
We want to help even more people make better property decisions, and that’s why we care so much about data. Whether someone is looking for their next home or an estate agent is looking to list, we need a best-in-class journey for both. Measurement, experimentation, and insights are the keys to unlocking this.
Responsibilities
- Taking ownership of the data relationship with business stakeholders (with support from the rest of the Analytics team), bridging commercial and product discussions
- Reporting on our baseline performance and trends. Keeping our finger on the pulse.
- Driving us towards a self-serve first culture
- Reporting on complex experimentation
- Close analyst-stakeholder relationships are the most crucial component of a well-functioning data team. Stakeholders should consider you part of their team.
- Varied work across data disciplines, e.g. data product design, data modelling, analytical deep-dives, contributing to data science, AI and machine learning projects
- We make time for innovation, so if you have an idea, shout, and we’ll make the space.
What does a great candidate look like
- Demonstrates curiosity and a proactive approach to learning, constantly seeking opportunities to deepen understanding and explore new ideas
- Exhibits a strong desire for ownership and accountability, taking the initiative to drive projects forward and deliver impactful results
- Skilled at translating complex business challenges into actionable data insights, driving meaningful outcomes and business impact
- Excellent communication skills, able to convey ideas clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- While recognising the value of experience, greater emphasis is placed on finding the right cultural fit and individual capabilities for the role.
- Strives to set high standards and continually seeks opportunities for personal and team growth, fostering an environment of continuous improvement
- Inspired by the prospect of contributing to industry innovation and eager to participate in reimagining the future landscape
Technical Skills
Essential
- Proficient in SQL with a proven track record of handling complex data queries and manipulation
- Demonstrable experience with Tableau or similar data visualisation tools, including the ability to create insightful and user-friendly dashboards and reports
- Experience with DBT (Data Build Tool) or similar data transformation technologies, with a keen understanding of data modelling and ETL processes
Desirable
- A background in statistics and/or programming, with the ability to apply statistical methods and algorithms to extract insights from data, especially surrounding experimentation
- Familiarity with machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, preferably in Python, R, or another programming language, enabling the development and implementation of predictive models and data-driven solutions
We want to make Zoopla more welcoming, fair and representative every day. We’ll consider everyone who applies for this role in the same way, regardless of your ethnicity, colour, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, physical disability, neurodiversity status, family or parental status, or how long you’ve spent unemployed. We’re reimagining the property industry for everyone, so we want our team to represent people from all walks of life. We actively welcome your application if your demographics or background are underrepresented in the technology or property sectors.
