About the Role

As Caretaker, you will help ensure the school premises are secure, safe and well maintained. You will carry out general maintenance, support site security and assist with the day-to-day running of the building and grounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out basic repairs and general maintenance across the school site.

• Open and secure the premises in line with agreed procedures.

• Complete routine site inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.

• Help maintain clean, tidy and safe school grounds.

• Monitor access to the premises and support site security.

• Assist with deliveries, room setups and moving equipment when required.

• Liaise with contractors and report issues requiring specialist attention.

• Follow health and safety, fire safety and safeguarding procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

• Has previous caretaking, maintenance or facilities experience, preferably in a school or similar setting.

• Demonstrates practical problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach.

• Is reliable, punctual and able to work independently.

• Has good communication and organisational skills.

• Understands the importance of site security, health and safety and safeguarding.

• Is flexible and willing to support the wider school team when needed.
