BSL Teaching Assistant – SEN School

The Role – BSL Teaching Assistant
- Full-time, long-term position starting January
- Support pupils with hearing impairments, autism, and additional SEN needs
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support , using BSL to support communication and learning
- Assist pupils with emotional regulation, daily routines, and social interaction
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to implement personalised learning plans
- Help create an inclusive, engaging classroom environment where all pupils can thrive
Person Specification
- Degree in Psychology, Special Education, or a related field (essential)
- British Sign Language qualification – minimum Level 2 (Level 3 preferred)
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient with strong communication skills
- A genuine passion for SEN education and supporting vulnerable learners
