Employment Counsel (EMEA) – Interim (4–5 Months Initially)

We are supporting a leading global organisation in their search for a senior Employment Counsel to provide critical EMEA‑wide support during a period of transition within the legal and HR teams.

This role reports into Global Head of Employment and will serve as the primary employment law adviser for the EMEA region. The position arises as a backfill for a employment counsel, who has moved into a new leadership opportunity, and the business is managing additional turnover within their HR function — including a partner moving on and a key HR stakeholder beginning maternity leave. As a result, they require a seasoned employment specialist who can steady the ship and operate with autonomy.

Key Scope & Responsibilities

• Acting as the sole employment counsel for EMEA, delivering expert support across a broad range of advisory, contentious and strategic matters.
• Managing ongoing matters, including cases progressing to hearing.
• Leading on upcoming EU transparency and regulatory compliance work.
• Providing policy development and implementation support across multiple jurisdictions.
• Supporting a busy portfolio across Europe and the Middle East, where activity remains high.
• Partnering closely with HR and business stakeholders in an environment that values pragmatic, commercial advice.

What They’re Looking For

• A senior employment lawyer with broad, hands‑on cross‑European experience.
• Someone who is comfortable operating independently and managing a wide, international remit.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to navigate a period of team transition.
• Ability to work in the London office 2–3 days per week.

Contract Details

• Initial 4–5 month assignment, with the possibility of extension depending on the permanent search timeline.
• Candidates may also be considered for the permanent role, although this cannot be guaranteed.
• ASAP start , ideally ahead of internal departure on 2nd April .
