HMRC's Government Banking service is seeking a dedicated Risk Manager to join our Risk Team within the Chief Finance Officer Group. Government Banking, hosted by HMRC, plays a vital role in managing banking and payment services for over 600 government departments and public bodies. At the forefront of innovation, it ensures secure, efficient, and resilient financial operations that underpin the delivery of public services. This function is central to safeguarding government funds and driving transformation across the banking and payments landscape. The Risk Team within Government Banking plays a vital role in protecting the integrity of these services. We identify, assess, and manage risks across banking operations, payment processes, and supplier relationships. Our work includes monitoring compliance with financial controls, mitigating fraud and cyber threats, and ensuring resilience in the face of operational challenges. By providing assurance and strategic guidance, we help maintain trust in government financial systems and support departments in managing complex or high-risk transactions. Job description As a Government Banking Risk Manager, you will lead on activities that make Government Banking more secure and resilient. You will provide expert advice on risk identification, mitigation, and assurance, ensuring compliance with HM Government standards. This role requires an inquisitive mindset, strong analytical skills, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence decision-making at senior levels. - Proven experience in security, business continuity or risk management roles
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and form recommendations
- A track record in planning and executing fit for purpose delivery within required timeframes
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities
- ISO 27001 Practitioner (or equivalent)
- ISO 22301 Practitioner (or equivalent)
- International Certificate in Operational Risk Management (or equivalent)
- To note, there may be occasional travel to meet with colleagues, customers, or suppliers.
