Lead Enterprise Architect (IT)
The Opportunity As a Lead Enterprise Architect within Parliament, you will assume a pivotal leadership position, collaborating closely with senior parliamentary business, strategy, and technical leads. Your primary mission will be to demonstrate the strategic significance of Enterprise Architecture in shaping effective strategic decision making, driving business change, and fostering technology innovation within the parliamentary context. Leading the development and refinement of business capability models, reference architectures and technology roadmaps, you will facilitate productive discussions and drive informed decision-making across Parliament. taking a strategic approach to aligning initiatives with overarching digital and parliamentary objectives, analysing the organisations technology needs, and developing standards, reference architectures, and roadmaps to achieve transformative outcomes in collaboration with subject-matter experts. providing expert guidance on optimal architectural design, guiding teams to adhere to correct technical governance processes while ensuring the appropriate application of organisational standards and methodologies. identifying and mitigating complex architecture challenges or risks ensuring successful outcomes that align with parliamentary priorities and meet the highest parliamentary standards. defining and driving strategic technical procurement requirements that align with strategic goals and uphold the exceptional quality expected within Parliament. collaborating on the development and maintenance of robust technical roadmaps, proactively identifying future opportunities and potential challenges, promoting the reuse of components and solutions across parliamentary services while ensuring compliance with parliamentary guidelines and stringent security protocols. What You Need Enter sentence here: experience as a senior Enterprise Architect or an equivalent role, showcasing practitioner-level capability across diverse architectures, technologies, and programming languages. Including an architecture certification (e.g. TOGAF or equivalent) or demonstrable experience within architecture frameworks and capability based planning. experience of demonstrating technology leadership through significant contribution to the development of accessible, reusable reference architectures, the definition of technology policies and standards, and the development of clear and well-followed technical governance processes. experience of managing people through periods of ambiguity, building and maintaining motivation, balancing and prioritising workload, and measuring delivery productivity, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion. experience of building strong relationships with stakeholders at various levels within the parliamentary environment and effectively communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. experience of leading the translation of business problems into pragmatic architectural designs, anchored in robust technology solution design principles, and customized to meet unique organisational requirements. experience of making well-informed decisions, considering risk and complexity, and skilfully influencing positive outcomes while ensuring solutions comply with standards and compliance requirements. desirable: Experience of public sector procurement rules and practices in a complex organisational and technical environment. the ability to pass security clearance, backed by the right to work in the UK About The Team The Enterprise Architecture team is part of the Office of the CTO. We are responsible for developing Parliament's technology strategy ensuring that Parliament has the technology it needs to do its work. We do this through mapping Parliament's digital landscape, working closely with teams across Parliament to understand how demand for digital will change over time, working with teams in the Digital Service to develop roadmaps and developing Parliament's reference architecture, standards and design patterns.
