About the Role:

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a stimulating and comprehensive English curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will foster a love for literary exploration, encourage students to develop their analytical and communication skills, and nurture their ability to express themselves with clarity and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons that cover a wide range of literary genres and themes.
  • Create a dynamic and interactive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, discussion, and debate.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning styles and enhance student engagement.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through various assessment methods, providing constructive feedback and targeted support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine the English curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant and inspiring.
  • Organise and participate in extracurricular activities, such as debating societies, creative writing clubs, and theatre visits.
  • Contribute to the school's vibrant literary culture by participating in school events and initiatives.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A relevant teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) and a strong academic background in English literature or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching English at secondary level, ideally within an independent school setting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and colleagues.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages boys to excel academically and personally.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to develop their critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills.
