Quant is urgently looking for a Java / Scala developer to join our high profile client.

Our client is a well known algorithmic trading broker based in central London.

The environment is that of Facebook or Google, relaxed open with time to think and make the right decisions. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed with an open dress code. This is a role for techies, those who are motivated by the sharp end of technology and the possibility of making serious money doing something you are passionate about.

The Java Scala developer will be involved in:

• Web application greenfield development
• Web analytics & business intelligence
• Machine learning, risk modelling, fraud detection.
• API design and provision
• Integration patterns & messaging
• Hybrid cloud infrastructure
• JavaScript application development
• Web application performance
• Scalability

Exceptional knowledge of low-high level systems coupled with true programming ability.

Candidates MUST have:

• Good grasp of core Java or Scala
• 3 years commercial experience
• Pragmatic use of object-orientated or functional programming methodologies
• Comfortable in a fast-moving team.
• Familiarity with AOP, component-oriented development (Guice).
• Knowledge of major XML technologies, including parsing, XSLT, Web Services
• PostgreSQL

Nice to have:

• Play Framework, Akka
• RabbitMQ
• NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis)

The successful individual will join a small team working directly with the Head of IT. My client is growing rapidly as they expand the audience for their products. I am looking for someone who can grow with the team, in responsibility and/or technological prowess – and make a significant contribution to the products they are developing.
