A grammar school in Sidcup is seeking a capable Science Technician to join its established Science Department ASAP. The successful candidate will support practical teaching and contribute to the efficient running of laboratories and preparation areas.
The Role
Prepare practical activities: Set up equipment and materials for Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Support teachers: Assist with practical demonstrations and student investigations.
Maintain laboratories: Ensure teaching spaces and preparation rooms are clean and organised.
Maintain stock: Monitor consumables and assist with ordering.
Equipment checks: Carry out routine checks and arrange repairs where necessary.
Health and safety: Maintain appropriate standards across laboratories and storage areas.
The Candidate
Technically capable: Understands laboratory equipment and practical procedures.
Science background: Relevant scientific qualifications or previous technician experience preferred.
Organised: Can manage preparation for multiple lessons each day.
Methodical: Works accurately and pays close attention to safety.
Communicative: Can work effectively with teachers and other technicians.
Flexible: Able to respond to changes in practical lesson requirements.
