Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join the acute adult inpatient team at Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a dynamic multidisciplinary team, providing specialist assessment and treatment to adults with a range of communication and swallowing disorders.
This role is suited to a competent dysphagia practitioner with stroke rehabilitation experience , and who thrives in a fast-paced hospital setting. You’ll play a vital role in supporting patients during their acute recovery and rehabilitation journey, making a meaningful difference to their quality of life and communication outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and management of adults with communication and swallowing disorders.
• Deliver evidence-based interventions in an acute hospital environment.
• Work closely with the wider MDT including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and medical staff.
• Support stroke rehabilitation pathways and contribute to early discharge planning.
• Maintain clear and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and RCSLT guidelines.
• Participate in service development and clinical supervision.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• Current HCPC registration .
• Proven experience in adult acute care, including dysphagia management .
• Experience working within stroke rehabilitation services.
• Excellent communication and clinical reasoning skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
