Opportunity to make a real difference to student attendance, engagement and welfare
Our client is seeking an organised, proactive and approachable Attendance Officer to join their school in Kensington from January 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced school administrator or attendance professional who is passionate about supporting young people and helping to improve attendance and punctuality across the school.
The successful candidate will play an important role in monitoring student attendance, identifying patterns of absence and working closely with pupils, parents and school staff to address attendance concerns. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate attendance records, following up on unexplained absences, contacting families and ensuring attendance information is recorded correctly in the school's management systems.
The role will involve working closely with the pastoral team, Heads of Year, senior leadership and external agencies where appropriate. The school is looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills who can handle sensitive situations professionally, build positive relationships with families and demonstrate confidence when discussing attendance expectations. Previous experience working within a school environment would be advantageous, although applications from candidates with strong administrative and customer service backgrounds will also be considered.
School Information:
The school is a well-established and respected educational setting in Kensington, offering a supportive and inclusive environment for students and staff. It places considerable emphasis on pastoral care, student wellbeing and ensuring all pupils have the opportunity to access their education consistently.
The successful candidate will become part of a dedicated administrative and pastoral team that works collaboratively to support students and families. The school recognises the importance of effective attendance monitoring and early intervention, with a strong focus on building positive relationships with parents and encouraging improved attendance across all year groups. Staff benefit from a supportive leadership team and a professional working environment where individual contributions are valued.
Experience and Qualifications:
Previous experience in school administration, attendance monitoring or a similar administrative role is desirable.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and school management information systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with parents, pupils and staff.
Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information appropriately.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
Legal ability to work within the UK.
Application:
If you are an organised and motivated individual interested in supporting student attendance and welfare, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your CV as soon as possible to be considered for this January 2027 Attendance Officer position in Kensington.
