Financial Controller

Our client is a growing SME business that is looking to hire a remote FC. Previous experience of working for a Software / Tech (SaaS) business is essential.

The Role

The Financial Controller works closely with the CFO and wider leadership team to; ensure financial control and compliance; provide all financial reports, plans and forecasts; support business growth. You'll be closely involved in the company's financial operations from every perspective, producing management accounts, statutory accounts, forecasts, tax returns and other relevant reports.

Responsibilities

• Monthly Consolidated Management Accounts (group currently comprises UK and one small Netherlands subsidiary)
• Statutory Accounts and Audit through to sign off
• Tax returns for UK and NL, including Corporation Tax, R&D Tax Credits and VAT
• Financial Plans and Forecasts
• Understand key KPIs for the business and deliver relevant reporting against these (e.g. Bessemer SaaS Metrics, Operational Dashboard, Resources & Expenditure Analyses)
• Implement strategies to manage operational costs effectively
• Manage and mentor the Finance Officer, (currently 50% FTE) who delivers Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Bank Recs and Fixed Asset Register. The successful candidate will need to fully oversee these activities and provide holiday cover for this role. You will be very comfortable with, fully committed to, and entirely responsible for the "nitty gritty" of the figures, including analysing transactions and delivering journals
• Preparing, issuing and reporting on share options and similar matters
• Undertaking other reasonable duties as required to support the CFO

• Proven trustworthiness and an outstanding track record or delivering consistently against your responsibilities
• Tenacity: self-motivated and resourceful
• Outstanding attention to detail
• Experience of using Xero
• Superior IT skills, able to work on both Apple and Windows operating systems
• Excellent spreadsheet knowledge (both Google Sheets & Excel), with a good understanding of formulas
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, diligently and transparently responding to queries in a timely manner.

You'll also need to have:

• Experience in the software industry, or other tech-driven sector
• A record of achievement in a remote working environment using online tools such as Slack and Google Drive
• Success at FC, Finance Manager, or other senior finance role
• A recognised accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
