Anaesthetic Practitioner
Student ODP looking to be challenged and developed at a leading London hospital? We are excited to announce that there is now an opportunity for you to join our Anaesthetic Practitioner Team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. This post is particularly suitable for:
- Newly qualified practitioners
- Current Band 5's looking for a new opportunity to expand their skills at an exciting London hospital
You will be required to work across the 14 Theatres + 4 procedural areas that we perform anaesthesia in. You will also be required to respond to 2222 calls and, as you become more experienced and senior, you may be asked to act as the 'Anaesthetic Coordinator'. Shifts will be varied and will involve working nights and weekends. Day shifts start at 07:45 and Night shifts start at 19:45. Acting on behalf of the Lead Anaesthetic Practitioners, and working in partnership with the wider perioperative team, an Anaesthetic Practitioner is responsible for delivering a high standard of care to patients, relatives and colleagues, in line with the Trust PROUD values. This will be facilitated by undertaking a rotation programme through the different surgical specialities which operate across our 14 theatres and 4 outside areas. Team working is an essential part of the role, so the successful applicant will need to utilise their communication, and non-technical skills in a busy theatre environment. They will be motivated to work towards maximising efficiency and consider innovative ways of reducing the financial and environmental cost of the service. We run a 24/7 service, so applicants will be asked to work nights and weekends, once they have completed their rotation programme. We don't currently do on-calls, all anaesthetic staff are resident for their shifts. About us
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of England's top-performing and safest trusts. We operate two main acute hospital sites--Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital--along with award-winning clinics across North West London. Our nearly 7,500 staff care for a diverse population of 1.5 million, providing full clinical services, including maternity, A&E, and children's services, plus specialist HIV and sexual health clinics. The Care Quality Commission rates us 'Good' in safety, effectiveness, care, and responsiveness, and 'Outstanding' in leadership and resource use. We continually invest in our facilities, including a £30m expansion of critical care at Chelsea and Westminster and an £80m Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre at West Middlesex. We are committed to equal opportunities and believe that diversity drives innovation and excellence. As part of our dedication to equity, we actively welcome applications from individuals from the global majority, veterans and underrepresented communities. We value the unique perspectives and experiences that diverse teams bring and are committed to creating an environment where all voices are heard, respected, and empowered to succeed. If you haven't heard from us within three weeks of the closing date, your application was likely unsuccessful. Employment is subject to a six-month probationary period. Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites. Details
