Renewables Industrial Placement

About the Role

Ready to explore your passion for offshore wind, engineering or sustainability? Interested in shaping the future of energy? At EDF, Success is Personal. Here, you’ll learn from experts, develop key skills and launch your unique career within a business that’s helping Britain achieve net zero.

“Our Industrial Placement gives you the opportunity to work with key stakeholders to support the ongoing development of EDF's offshore wind farms in the UK and Ireland, as well as in other countries around the world.” – Arnaud, Renewables Team Head

The Opportunity

This 12-month placement offers a starting salary of £26,750 and the chance to work at our UK Research and Development Centre in # London. You’ll contribute to research that supports EDF’s offshore wind portfolio and helps tackle future energy challenges.

You’ll gain insight into areas such as Meteocean, construction and installation, operation and maintenance, and cost-modelling. You’ll also explore how innovation can reduce costs and improve EDF’s competitiveness in the renewables sector.

What You’ll Be Doing

During your Renewables Industrial Placement, you’ll support the development, construction, maintenance and decommissioning of offshore wind projects totalling 23 GW. Past students have built skills in coding, cost modelling, technical reporting and client engagement.

This placement offers practical learning in a collaborative environment. You’ll work with stakeholders across EDF, develop technical and non-technical capabilities and gain exposure to real-world applications of academic research.

Your Work Location

This placement is based at our Nova North Building in # London (Victoria). We offer flexible working, so you’ll have the opportunity to work remotely from time to time.

Who You Are

To be eligible for this EDF industrial placement, you need to be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, wind energy, fluid mechanics or another related subject.

Our selection process is designed to bring out the best in you. We use a strengths-based approach, allowing you to showcase your skills and what truly motivates you. We believe that focusing on individual strengths is key to engagement, motivation and success in the workplace.

At EDF we work hard to maintain a culture where Everyone’s Welcome. We encourage and embrace diversity and how it can improve our experience and performance at work. It is nevertheless a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility, we reserve the right in our decisions to give priority to those who already have the right to work in the UK.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a starting salary of £26,750 per annum and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that’s unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it’s your journey, powered by us. As a Disability Confident employer, we will support applicants requiring adjustments.

We anticipate significant interest in this industrial placement scheme – so please don’t delay, apply today! Join us and find your success at EDF!

We’re proud to share that in our last recruitment cycle, we received nearly 32,000 applications across our early career’s programmes.
