Role Responsibilities

As a Science Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and setting up materials, equipment, and experiments for practical Science lessons across all key stages.

  • Supporting teaching staff during lessons to ensure experiments are conducted safely and effectively.

  • Maintaining and organising laboratory equipment, resources, and chemical stock.

  • Monitoring safety procedures and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Assisting with department projects, demonstrations, and science events.

  • Carrying out routine maintenance of laboratory apparatus and reporting faults or repairs as required.

  • Managing inventory and ordering supplies to ensure continuity of lessons.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a laboratory environment.

  • Knowledge of health and safety practices, including COSHH regulations.

  • Practical laboratory skills and technical competence.

  • Organised, proactive, and able to work independently.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills to support staff and students effectively.
